Brett is the thriving force behind the company. A Kansas Wesleyan grad who
made the transition to the Oil and Gas Industry. In 2014
after cleaning up Tidewater Oil & Gas out of Bankruptcy for
Juniper Capital Partners, he located a buyer of
the Parowan Assets located in Iron County to
Virtus Oil & Gas (OTCBB:VOIL). Murray was then
hired to lead the US team of VOIL as Chief Operating Officer over seeing all
aspects of the company and 55k net acres. Brett A. Murray worked for
Gunnison Energy Corporation an Oxbow Company owned by William Koch in 2012 as
Land Manager. Prior to GEC, Mr. Murray spent time with Phil Anschutzís private
company, Anschutz Exploration Corporation where he was heavily involved in the
$1.4B divestiture of the companyís Southern Bakken properties and as well as its
$114MM Northern Bakken property sale. Murray went to work at Sundance Energy,
Inc. in 2008, and was promoted to Land Manager at age 27. While at Sundance, he
was involved with multiple divestitures and business development of nearly
150,000 acres and near $80MM in transactions. At Anadarko he was a company
landman that worked on curative issues before drilling in the Wattenberg Basin.
Murray started his land career as a field landman in Northeastern Colorado. He
was the main lease buyer for Tecton Energy where he had leased near 100,000
acres in the Albuquerque Basin. In 2008, Murray was a board member on Steve
Naeveís private company Houston Power Associates that focused on renewable
energy in seven states.
Murray earned a B.A. in Communications from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2003
while spending the majority of semesters on the Dean's List and being named
Outstanding Communications Student (2x).
He was a Varsity Letterman in basketball and also a member of the 2000 KCAC
Conference Champions and NSCAA Champions. In 2012 he was honored from his alma
mater with the 2012 Young Alumnus Award.
Murray and his wife Josie are involved with many charitable causes. They started
Operation P.C. Cares which marketed car magnets to raise funds to buy phone
cards for local members of the military stationed overseas. After the loss of
their infant son Ethan, they started My Little Angel Toy Drive. The annual event
helps provide Christmas meals and toys for nearly 90 children in Phillips
County, Colorado. In memory of Baby Ethan a freshwater fish tank was donated at
the Holyoke Hospital. Just recently the Murray's have been involved with Inner
City Slickers. The Murray's enjoy taking their ponies Footsteps and Freckles to
Denver Projects to bring agricultural ideas to inner city kids.
Murray and his wife live outside of Denver, CO with their three boys Stephen,
Matthew and D.J. The family runs black angus cattle, Show Lambs that compete at
National Western Stock Show, Quarter Horses, German Shorthair Pointers for
Pheasant and Quail hunting and raise Dryland Corn and Wheat. His hobbies include horseback riding,
Pheasants Forever, golf, Rec Center basketball, lunch hour basketball and the many activities
of his children.
Chad is a landman with five
years experience. He has worked under Mr. Murray at Gunnison Energy, Tidewater
Oil and Virtus Oil and Gas. His extensive knowledge of state regulatory,
reporting and permitting has been vital in keeping costs down for the client. He
is actively involved with Public Relations for Elected Officials and campaigns.
He is a graduate of University of Colorado-Boulder.
Dennis A. Oliver-Landman
Dennis is a landman with over 30 years of experience and an active member with
the AAPL. He has worked in over 30 states
on various projects from Oil, Gas, Titanium, and many other mining operations he
currently has four landmen that are working under him for clients. Dennis began
his transition into the industry as the owner of Phillips County Abstract.
Dennis also owns his own Professional Land Services Company: Dennis A. Oliver &
Josie has been the backbone of the
business. She handles all communications from the office. Josie keeps busy
assisting in the business and also has been an effective lease buyer when
